All is not well in Arkham. Strange cultists, dark deeds, and mind bending creatures have begun to plague this sleepy little burg, but that’s just the beginning. Arkham Horror, from Fantasy Flight Games, is a co-operative board game based on the works of Lovecraft, Derlith, and others. Step into the shoes of one of eight investigators and try to take back the night from ancient and unspeakable evils. As you travel from one end of the city to the other you’ll have to fight for your life and your sanity against creatures out of time and space. Each turn you’ll face new conspiracies, terrifying events, and if you don’t move fast enough, the awakening of one of the great old ones. Work quickly and efficiently and you save the day, take your time and you’ll have to face a primordial evil in a desperate battle for the fate of the world. The stars have aligned and reality hangs in the balance. Can you survive to see another morning?

Let me start off by saying that Arkaham Horror is an amazing game that I play when ever I can. That said it is not for every one. If the above intrigues you, you are willing to put in four hours of game play (including set up and tear down), work together with friends, digest an intricate rule base, and after all that lose. Then you have found the game for you. As a co-op game, every one works as a team, you all win or you all lose. It follows the Lovecraft mythos very closely using not just the names, but captures the feel. I have talk with many customers that have purchased Arkaham and the only complaint was the time involved, they just don't have enough time to play it as much as they want. It places 51st on boardgamegeek.com (on 9-25-09) showing the great amount of positive feed back it has received from the gaming community.

To sum up. Buy this game if:
