You don't have to be faster than the shark, just faster than your friends!

Get Bit! is a card game where players are competing to stay alive as the others are being eaten by the shark.

The order of the swimmers is determined by simultaneously playing cards face-down then revealing the values. The number on each player's card determines position in line (higher numbers in front, lower numbers in back), however ties don't move. The swimmer at the back loses a limb to the shark and is flung to the front of the line! The process is repeated until only two swimmers remain on the table. When this happens, the swimmer at the front of the line wins the game!

For 2-6 players. 20 minutes.

Game Daze Park Place Mall Manager Recommendation, September 2011

Drew -

It started out a nice calm day to send your robot out for a swim with his buddies, when all of a sudden, a ravenous shark appears on the horizon, heading, hell-bent for leather, towards the group. So, remember, your robot doesn’t have to swim faster than the shark, just faster than his friends.

In Get Bit, that’s is the scenario in a nutshell. Each player gets a robot figure, (similar to a large Lego man, in that the limbs and head can be removed) and a set of cards, numbered 1-7. The robots are placed on the table in a line, with the shark in the back. Each turn goes as follows:

  1. Choose a card from your hand and place it face down. Once all cards are played, flip them all face up.
  2. The player who played the lowest number goes to the front of the line, with the other robots lining up behind them in order of card played. If there is a tie, none of the robots with that number move.
  3. The robot in the back of the line gets bitten by the shark. His player removes one complete limb (arm or leg). That player gets all his cards back. All other players leave their cards on the table, unless they only have one card left, at which point they pick up all their cards.

This continues until there are only two robots left, at which point the robot in back gets eaten and the other robot wins.

This is a cute, simple game that can be played with all ages. I would really recommend this game.
