First you start with tic-tac-toe and—NO WAIT! COME BACK! This is a really good game that actually adds strategy to one of the simplest games from your childhood. Instead of X’s and O’s, you have two sets of stacking Gobblers (large, medium, and small) all nested together. On your turn, you place any one of your gobblers on any available space of the board. If you play from the stacks you have in front of you, you start revealing more gobblers you can use. If you place a small gobbler on the board, I can cover it up with one of my larger gobblers. However, if I later move my larger piece to another square, your smaller one is revealed—watch out, because if I just revealed a three-in-a-row, I just gave the win to you! You’ll have to use logic and memory to win the game. And although Dr. Toy says Gobblet Gobblers is “a perfect first strategy board game for your little one”, the game is challenging enough for parents. Gobblet Gobblers is a high-quality all-wooden game from Blue Orange, for two players aged five and up.

Gobblet Gobblers is a great stepping up game for children to learn the subtle art of thinking a few steps ahead at a very early age, it gets them flexing those strategy muscles and ready for chess and go in no time! Not to mention fun for Mom and Dad as well, no matter how many times you have to play!
