Memoir '44 is a unique historical game where players command a horde of little plastic Army men facing-off in dozens of WWII battles on an oversize hex game board.
Each battle scenario mimics the historical terrain, troop placements and objectives of each army. Deploying forces through a variety of Command cards, the smart commander uses the unique skills of his units - infantry, paratroopers, tanks, artillery, commandos and resistance fighters - to its greatest strength.
Easy to learn and fast-paced, Memoir '44 requires strategic card play, timely dice rolling and an aggressive, yet flexible battle plan to achieve victory!
For 2 players, game play is about 60 minutes.

This is probably my favorite World War II strategy board game. If you’ve ever played Axis and Allies or Tide of Iron you’ll recognize some commonality. In Memoir ’44 you are in the game up close and personal with your army laid on a hex board with multiple setups. (You can even make your own.) Read off the placement of troops and start razing havoc with you miniature tanks and infantry. Battles are decided using a simple six sided dice system. In the game you can take advantage of the field with village cover, sandbags, forest canopies, etc. It’s your choice to be the Americans or the Germans. This game is easier to understand than most other WWII games (great for kids 10 and up) and has better replay because of the many expansions. Even moms like it because you can buy a HUGE utility bag to hold the game, expansions, plastic minis and boards. Get ready to pit your tactical prowess against a friend’s and have fun!

Memoir '44 is an exciting war simulation and strategy game. The quality of all Days of Wonder products is top notch. Memoir '44 is one of the easier war games to play. There are many expansions to this game which can cause confusion to the beginning gamer (and why this review is 4 stars). However, if you are looking for a great head to head war strategy game that has a ton of online gameplay development, look no further.

Memoir '44 is a World War II battlefield reenactment game. Unlike a lot of the other games that share this category Memoir sets itself apart, by being easy to learn and quick to play. The rules are very simple and easy to pickup; and with the average game lasting 45 min it was a joy to play best two out of three, switching sides of course.
The game board is modular and duel sided. One side being a beach landing and the other normal green fields. The rule book comes with a number of different scenarios; and in all the times I have played they all seemed balanced. You simply choose which scenario you want to play and set up the board accordingly; placing hills, villages, and mountains.
The game also has a large number of expansions so you can reenact your favorite battle of the war. They have released an eastern front, Pacific theater, Mediterranean, and even an air pack.
