As far as children’s games go, there are some that teach reasoning skills, and some that encourage creativity. There are very few that do both, but Now What is a brilliant exception. The game gives you a problem situation that you have to solve by combining a random assortment of things (gnomes, tape, basketballs) in a way that makes sense. Say, a wall is about to fall on you, what would you use to hold it up and avoid being squished? Even though players are encouraged to make logical deductions, this is by no means a serious game. The situations are outrageously fun and so are the solutions. This game is great for teaching creative and thinking skills, while also offering enough spontaneity to make it interesting for adults.

Have you ever been stuck in a room covered in marbles with only a live chicken, duct tape and a hamster to help you pick them all up? Me neither but after playing Patch's "Now What?" I have formulated a plan for even the craziest situations like this one. In this silly story telling game players take turns coming up with inventive solutions to wacky dilemmas. After being placed in a horrible random situation with only nine equally random items you must find a way out of these crazy dilemmas. Such as: while in a rush to catch a plane you accidentally knock over a bowl of marbles. Unable to simply leave the danger for your return you must devise a way to pick them all up quickly using only a hamster, a silly straw, a live chicken, a roll of duct tape ect. The goal is not only to make up the zaniest story possible but to include even the most ridiculous items provided for you. Every time you use an item you place a token on it, any card with only one token on it is kept by the player who placed it. First player to collect ten cards in this manner is the winner. After one round of "Now What?" you'll come to learn it's had to feel like you lost when you're laughing so hard you can't determine the winner.

Do you want something goofy?, random?, just plain funny? Well, the new game “Now What?” by Patch is for you. You are given maniacally random situations or dilemmas and it is up to you to think of a way out. Nine object cards are placed on the table and you have a limited time to pick three of them and involve them in your solution. Players take turns telling their version of the conclusion to the ‘story’ and place a chip on each of their three chosen cards. After everyone has taken a turn, whoever has a chip all by itself on an object card wins that card. (This means the more creative you are, the goofier you are, the more fantastically random you are, the more likely you are not only to win but, you’ll have a hilarious time.) The first player to obtain 10 object cards wins the game. What a perfect game for family night, sleepovers or campouts. Have fun!

Ever had a time when you had to string together a list of impossible things to make a story that sounds plausable. You read aloud some off the wall situation that you need to make up a seriously unbelieveable story to justify the situation. The most outlandish story wins the round in this game of goofy stories and good laughs. So rev up the story teller in you and give the game a try, you never know what someone will come up with to win.
