Ren Faire |
You and your friends are newbies at the Renaissance faire. Food, music, mock combat ... it sounded like some kind of off-beat rock concert! Problem is, you stick out like a sore thumb. In a crowd of buccaneer hats and faerie wings, you're the only ones in shorts and t-shirts. Now you and your friends have one afternoon to assemble the ultimate Renaissance costume, but you're low on cash and the only way to earn more is to perform for the crowd!
In the Ren Faire card game, your goal is to outfit your Character with Costumes whose icons fill the slots on it. To do this, you play Performance cards that award you coins for doing silly stunts, then buy the transparent Costume cards that stack above your Character card.
Ren Faire is a light-hearted card game for 2 to 4 players, ages 13 and up. Play time is about an hour. It features an innovative transparent card design, and Performance cards that are sure to keep everyone enjoying the game.

Ren Faire is fun card game for 2-4 players from Atlas Games, the makers of Gloom. Like Gloom, Ren Faire utilizes transparent cards. So, the premise of the game is that you and your friends have gone to the local Renaissance Faire for the first time. Lo and behold, you are the only people not in costumes. What are you going to do? You decide to try to earn some money so you can buy your own garb by performing. You also decide to make it a race between yourselves.
The game comes with two decks, the transparent Costume cards and the opaque Performance cards. The Costume cards will be turned face up in the middle of the playing area, representing what is available to buy. Each costume piece will have an icon on the side that will fill a specific slot, and filling up the slots helps you to win. The slots and the costume are the only filled areas on otherwise the transparent card.
Each player will then get three Performance cards. These cards will either have an Effect that can either target the group or a single player, and they would have to abide by the effect, or have a Task & Reward card. These second types are how you will earn the money to buy your garb.
The game starts with the player with worst fashion sense. They will take any two actions from a Performance card, Buying a Costume, or Discards & Draw Up. Play continues clockwise until a player has completed their outfit. Huzzah!!!
