Star Fluxx is the latest addition to the Fluxx games. As the name suggests, this version of Fluxx is space themed. Cards make references to famous science fiction shows such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Firefly, and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Game play for Star Fluxx is exactly like that in other versions of Fluxx. Players shuffle cards and are dealt a hand of three. Basic Rules state that on their turn, players draw a card, and play a card. First player to complete a goal card wins. From there, game play can get interesting. Just like in other Fluxx games, new rule cards can be played out, which affect how many cards are drawn, played, or affect Keepers kept in play. Goal cards state the current goal for the player it is in front of. Goal Cards can also be changed. Keeper cards are played in front of a player, and go towards the Goal. Action cards, when played, allow players to do specific actions once. Creeper cards are played immediately when drawn, and usually have a negative effect on the players. Surprise Cards can be played anytime, and effect the opponents.
Star Fluxx is an excellent addition to the Fluxx family, providing an entertaining theme directed towards fans of science fiction.

Danger, customers! Danger, Danger! Looney Labs has just released Star Fluxx! Any sci-fi fan will need to have this edition for their collection. Just as in regular Fluxx, the rules, goal and keepers are never truly static. You'll need to pay attention when the new rule, “Wormhole” is played and get frustrated when the Surprise card, “Belay That!” cancels an action card. My favorite new keepers are “Expendable Crewman” (Yes, he is wearing a red shirt.) and “Intergalactic Travel Guide” (No, I did not panic.) And, that's not all! Between “Time Traveler” and “The Doctor” we just had a blast with this newest version of a beloved game. This is a must-have for Christmas this year.
