Word on the street is a cross between Tug -A- War and Scrabble. The object of the game is collect 8 letter tiles. You do this by spelling out words on the " Street" and moving them to your side of the board. Set up is easy enough. Set the board, called the "Street, between two players or groups. The Street has the letters down the middle and 1 lane on each side. The first team draws a card and reads aloud the phrase on it. These cards might say something like "A form of entertainment". You have until the timer runs out to say a word and spell it on the street. You then move a letter tile to your side of the board for each continenti in your word. There are no vowels or the letter Q. After that the next player plays and you keep going back and forth until one side has there 8 tiles.

It’s a tug of war with words! One team sits on either side of a street-shaped board that has a string of letters down the middle. In turn each team is given a category, like “things that are advertised on TV.” Within the time limit, the team must come up with a single answer and spell that word by pulling the letters on the board toward them across the lanes of the street. But, a letter isn’t safely yours until you get it completely off the street – so on the next turn the other team could move it back their direction with a well-chosen word! The rounds are fast and frantic, the words can be hilarious, and you can try to distract the other team – you can’t really ask for more in a word game than the fun you get from Word on the Street!
